ALBUM REVIEW - Demon Hunter - Storm The Gates Of Hell When I first put this new album in to listen to it, I was kind of skeptical on how good it would be. To be honest, I didn’t much like their last CD, The Triptych. It was still good but just didn’t sound all that complicated because they went a little old school with it. But after the first song played, I felt like burning down a small village… well, not really but you get what I mean. I was kind of taken back because of the hardness and brutality of the lyrics combined with the music, I was definitely hooked. |

Featured Band - Destroy The Runner Band Website | MySpace The band Destroy the Runner from San Diego California, originally called Die Like Me, hit up the hardcore seen in September of 2006. That’s when they released their first album Saints on Solid State records. From there, they kicked off the new album with a tour featuring Haste the Day and Scary Kids Scaring Kids.
The original vocalist Kyle Setter and bass player Jeremiah Crespo that was recorded on Saints left the band. They were replaced with Chad Ackerman on vocals and Tanner Sparks on bass which makes the sound of their sophomore release a bit different. But the original drummer Marc Kohlbry and Guitar players Duane Reed and Nick "Maldy" Maldonado are still with the band. You can hear for yourself how they changed on their myspace which they have three new songs posted from their new album I Lucifer which was release on April 15th.
In recent news Destroy the Runner stated: “While it may be easy to label us as a Christian band because of lyrics, our record label, or anything else, our mission as a band has never been to convert the masses, or to push our beliefs upon any of you. We feel that faith is not something that should be sold to you and, with that in mind, would like to maintain some separation between marketing music and selling religion. Obviously, our beliefs are reflected in what we do. Our mission has been, and will continue to be, to create music that we are passionate about with the hope that it will touch people's lives like other music has touched ours.”
At the moment, these guys are touring parts of California with tours planned all over the U.S to kick off their new album. They have a video out for their song “Saints” which you can see on their myspace along with those three songs “Crumbs for the Murderer”, “Mr. and Mrs. Cuckoldom” and “Isabella’s”. It will be interesting to see the changes and progress the band makes with its new members dishing out new ideas. |
